Product Description
Every dollar raised will directly save Rawaa’s life by funding the emergency brain surgery she desperately needs and ensuring she receives proper hospital care. My name is Jenna Hage-Hassan, and I’m a Lebanese American from Metro Detroit fighting to save the life of an extraordinary woman who has dedicated her entire existence to saving others. How We Met: This past fall, during one of Lebanon’s heaviest bombardments in years, I saw a heartbreaking news video of a German Shepherd whose entire family had been killed in the shelling. The dog was digging through the rubble of their home until he pulled out a child’s shoe, then lay beside it, waiting and hoping. That image gutted me. I couldn’t stop thinking about him. I called news stations, reached out to journalists, contacted every Lebanese blogger and animal rescue group I could find—desperate to know if he had survived. Eventually, I found Rawaa Mady. And through her, I found the dog. He was alive. Safe. Healing. That moment sealed my bond with her and her mission. Who Rawaa Is: Rawaa Mady is a schoolteacher from Ain Zebdeh who founded the only dog shelter in Lebanon’s Bekaa Valley. Since 2017, she has single-handedly rescued over 200 dogs—many bearing scars of brutal violence, bullet wounds, and poisoning. With no salary, no institutional funding, and only a small team of unpaid volunteers, she has sacrificed everything to be the voice for the voiceless in a region where stray dogs are often seen as threats. The Crisis: In August 2025, this angel among us had emergency brain tumor surgery, followed by a second surgery to install a shunt. After being discharged, she suddenly became unresponsive at home and had to be rushed back to the emergency room in critical condition. The doctors saved her life, but she’s now stuck in the ER because her family has exhausted all their resources paying for the first two surgeries. She needs a third emergency surgery immediately, but the hospital won’t perform it without payment. The woman who has spent her life savings rescuing others now needs us to rescue her. The hands that have healed hundreds of broken animals now need healing themselves. Every dollar you donate goes directly to AUB Hospital for Rawaa’s life-saving surgery and care. We will provide all receipts and updates on her recovery. Rawaa Mady is a Hero not just for saving dogs, but for restoring hope and humanity in a place that has forgotten both. Now it’s our turn to restore hope for her.
